A Timeline of Musical History
September 10, 2013Congratulations to our Medal Ball Graduates!
October 5, 2013Spicy. Sensuous. Hot. These are the trademarks of the Salsa. An infusion of Cuban, African, Latin, and Caribbean cultures, the Salsa is an energetic dance that will get your blood pumping and leave you wanting more.
Nicknamed the “Cuban hip movement,” Salsa dancing is popular at night clubs, ballrooms, restaurants, and outdoor festivals. Its unique rhythm comes from African percussion instruments including the clave, congas, timbales, bongos, and maracas.
“It’s a playful and fun dance, loaded with emotional, physical, and social benefits for both couples and singles,” explains Laurie Pawlik-Kienlen in “The Sensuality of Salsa.” “Sharing the experience of movement and music with your significant other can be very powerful and satisfying,” adds Cheryl Williams, a Montreal-based dance instructor. “Dancing can bring couples closer together. And since Salsa is flirtatious, it can inject sensuality and romance into your relationship.”
Schedule a Salsa lesson today at the Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Charlotte and Lake Norman, NC. Bring a partner or meet new partners and add a little spice to your life.
