Excercise Your Body, Mind, and Soul Through Dancing
November 4, 2013If You Can Swing Your Hips You Can Lambada
January 7, 2014Dancing is a wonderful way to celebrate with your family and friends. No matter what type of wedding you are planning–simple or elaborate, traditional or contemporary, intimate or colossal–the music and dancing you choose will set the mood for your celebration and should reflect your personality and style.
First, choose your music. An online wedding song directory like WedAlert can help you find the perfect songs. Make a list of your favorites and take them to your dance instructor. The staff at the Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Charlotte and Lake Norman, NC will help you choose and choreograph your wedding dances.
Next, you need to determine a dance order. This will be the schedule that your wedding reception revolves around. Discuss it with your DJ/band and your photographer/videographer so they know what to expect during the reception.
Here is a traditional wedding dance order from WeddingConnections.com:
- Bride and Groom
- Bride’s parents
- Groom’s parents
- Bride dances with her father
- Groom dances with mother-in-law
- Groom’s parents continue dancing together
- Bride dances with father-in-law
- Groom dances with his mother
- Bride’s parents continue dancing together
- Rest of bridal party joins in
- Guests join the dance
Of course, this order can be changed to suit your needs. Some of these dances can be eliminated or combined to save time. Additional dances may also be added, such as an anniversary dance, a dollar dance, a last dance, as well as any ethnic dances that your families may wish to include.
At the Arthur Murray Dance Studios, dancing is our business. Our experienced instructors will work with you to create an unforgettable wedding experience, for both you and your guests.
