Besides being a great aerobic workout, the Jive is great for your legs. It is danced mainly on the toes with lots of kicks and flicks, as well as bouncing movements that come from lifting and bending of the knees and rocking of the hips.
The Jive is an International Swing dance that originated in the United States from African-American culture in the 1930s and 1940s. It shares the music style and tempo of East Coast Swing and includes elements of the Lindy Hop and the Jitterbug.
Jive is the fastest of the five International Latin dances. In competition, it is danced at a tempo of approximately 176 beats per minute. Jive is danced to happy and upbeat music including Boogie Woogie, Swing, and Rock and Roll.
